Light in the Valley grief work program.
An 8-week guided grief program involving a circle of women walking through loss launching September 14, 2026.
A small circle of women who understand, walking gently together, through grief, toward hope, and back to life. Guided every step, never rushed, never alone.
You don't have to walk the valley alone.
Everyone around you moved on. They think you too have.
You're still there. Still missing them.
Everyone else has gone back to their lives, back to routines, back to not thinking about it every hour of every day. And somehow, you're expected to know how to live yours too. Without the person who made it feel like yours.
The messages have slowed. The check-ins have stopped coming. The casseroles are long finished. But the grief hasn't gone anywhere. It shows up in the quiet moments, the empty chair at dinner, their name almost said out loud, the anniversary nobody else remembers, the song that comes on in the car when you least expect it.
If that's where you are, hear this: there is nothing wrong with you.
Grief is not a problem to fix, and you are not behind some invisible schedule for healing. It's love with nowhere left to go, and it deserves to be witnessed, not rushed.
Light in the Valley is the circle I wish had existed when I was standing exactly where you are now. It's an 8-week journey of guided modules and real community, built on the Six Pillars for Healing After Loss so you don't have to find your way through the valley alone.
Founding price: $690 for a limited time.
How We Walk Together
Light in the Valley is not a course. It's a valley we walk — together.
Grief was never meant to be carried alone, yet so many women do: smiling in rooms where nobody knows what they're holding, putting their grief aside to tend to everyone else. This circle is where you finally get to put the weight down.
Our approach rests on four promises. Witnessed — healing begins the moment your loss is truly seen, and in this circle, it will be. Held — you will not be rushed, fixed, or told to move on; you will be walked with, by a guide who has been through this valley herself and a small circle of women who understand without explanation. Hope — this is a faith-friendly space where hope is never forced but always welcome, whatever your season of believing looks like right now. Remembered — their story is preserved and their name is spoken, because memories should not fade with time.
Witnessed. Held. Hope. Remembered. You are cared for and they are kept.
LIGHT IN THE VALLEY
Light in the Valley
The grief program built different — rooted in faith, shaped by African wisdom, led by lived experience.
Most grief programs teach you to cope. This one walks with you, through faith, through ancestral wisdom, through the hands of a woman who has buried her own and knows this valley from the inside. Light in the Valley is not talk therapy. It is not a photobook service. It is not a course written by someone who has only studied grief in theory. It was built by a bereaved mother and registered nurse who had lost both her parents by age 23 and lost her 13-year-old son Asher to brain cancer, she has walked this valley three times, not once or twice.
This program brings together three things rarely offered in one place: the clinical grief literacy of a nurse who has sat with dying and grieving families professionally; the communal, storytelling, elder-honouring wisdom of African grief traditions, where mourning was never meant to be done alone or in silence; and a faith that does not rush you past your pain but holds you inside it.

What the Eight Weeks Hold
Two ways to walk the pillars — live, together, and at your own pace.
8 live circle sessions, 60 minutes each, online, gentle teaching, guided reflection, and real conversation in an intimate group capped at 12 women.
8 self-paced recorded modules, walking through the same six pillars in your own time, whenever the week gets away from you.
Lifetime access to the entire program — every live session recording and every module, yours to return to whenever grief calls you back, because it doesn't keep a schedule.
The Light in the Valley journal, our beautifully printed companion, posted to your door before we begin.
Weekly companion pieces between sessions, a journal page, or a memory activity, never homework, only invitations.
A circle of women who now know your story — perhaps the rarest gift of all. You arrive somewhere new. Not "over it." But lighter. Witnessed. Connected to women who now know your story, and carrying your loved one's light with peace instead of panic.
My name is Rudo Maritsa, Your Guide Through the Valley. I am the founder of Everlight Stories, registered nurse, writer, and a mother who knows this valley from the inside. Years ago, I lost my parents and in 2019, I lost my son Asher, to brain cancer. He was thirteen. And in the darkness that followed, I met every fear you may be carrying now: the fear of forgetting, the exhaustion of pretending to be fine, the ache of a world that kept moving when mine had stopped. What slowly brought me back to life was not a formula. It was stories, faith, and being truly witnessed in my grief.
Light in the Valley is everything I needed in my darkest season, gathered into one gentle circle. I bring to it a mother's lived experience, a nurse's understanding of loss and end-of-life care, and a storyteller's belief that your memories should never die.
I'm also an Executive Contributor to Brainz Magazine on grief and healing, named Female Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 by the African Professionals of Australia, presented at the Death Down Under Symposium in Melbourne July 2026, but the credential that matters most in this circle is simpler: I have walked this road. I will not walk ahead of you or behind you. I will walk beside you. I built this program because I searched for something that understood grief the way my grandmothers did, the way my faith does, and the way my clinical training taught me, and I couldn't find it. So, I built it.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
There is no “ready” for grief work, there is only being held or alone. You can come to every session and simply listen. No one will ever be pressed to share before she chooses to. The recordings are yours for life, so even the weeks that feel too heavy will wait for you.
-
Grief has no expiry date, and neither does healing. Some of the most profound transformations happen in women who have carried their loss quietly for five, ten, twenty years. If the valley is still real to you, this circle is for you.
-
By week two, they will not be strangers. There is a particular kind of safety among women who have all lost someone, no explaining, no awkward silences, no “at least” sentences. Just recognition.
-
No, Light in the Valley is a guided grief support and companioning circle, led from lived experience and grief education. It is not counselling, psychotherapy, or a substitute for professional mental health care, and I will always encourage you to seek that support alongside us if you need it.
